Drawing...

We designed and drew our own aliens...

Lee was busy working on a story about his planet in his Google Docs.

Holly was busy writing in her diary...

Emily made her very own book for Borrowers...

Week One Awards

Congratulations to the following students...
What a hard worker you are Junior!  Tumeke!

Loved your booklet about Sharks Wiremu!

Well done Skye, Althea and Holly for all your extra work this week!  And great story writing Reid!

And we're back...

Hi everyone.  So sorry but we have been madly busy at school (and I had my birthday weekend last weekend!) so sadly not a lot of blogging done!

The children have all settled back in really well and are super excited about our learning around the Solar System.   I must say that after the absolute quiet at my house during Lock Down it took a couple of days to get used to the sound of 22 children again!

Awesome Workers!

These children have been working hard at school instead of home during Level 3.  What a great bunch they are.  Mr Herrick even bought them some treats to go with their certificates.  Well done guys!

Star of the Week!

This week's Star of the Week goes to Reid Jones!  Reid you have made our online meetings super fun.  I particularly loved the jokes and your suit that you showed is in the first meeting :)  Plus all those awesome Bush Craft videos you made with your Dad were pretty amazing too!  Looking forward to seeing you on Monday!

No online class meeting today...

Good morning everyone. I don't think we will worry about meeting online again. We are due back Monday, so for those people who are up to date online, go to the class blog for ideas.
I look forward to seeing you all in person on Monday!
I would like to take the time now to thank all of the parents/caregivers who have been busy being 'teacher' during Lock Down. You have all done a magnificent job of keeping your children working during this most unusual time and I commend you all for your efforts.
The teachers have been busy working behind the scenes on just how Level 2 will work for your children when they are back and I will update you tomorrow on this. I will be teaching tomorrow in R4 (children of essential workers) so it may not be until tomorrow night that I get these notes posted to you. Keep an eye out on Facebook as Mr Adams has been posting updates regularly to the Westport South School page.
If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me.
Many thanks
Jennifer Clementson

Spelling

Essential Lists

At the beginning of Lock Down you all received a blank copy of the Essential Spelling list that your child was working through.
If possible, please re-test your child and highlight the words known.
For spelling get them to write 5 of the words they do not know 10 times then get them to write some sentences with the words (make sure the sentences have capital letters and full stops/?/! in the right places.
