We had so much fun making our waka but they were a bit fiddly so we decided to have just a fun making day where we could design and choose what we wanted to make. Here are our creations!

Waka Hourua
Many waka hourua followed Kupe over the next few
hundred years, landing at various parts of New Zealand.
Iwi (Maori tribes) can trace their
beginnings and whakapapa (genealogy) back to certain waka hourua.
The seven waka that arrived to Aotearoa were
called:
Tainui, Te Arawa, Mātaatua, Kurahaupō, Tokomaru,
Aotea, Tākitimu.
